Disability Discrimination
Thorman & Hardin-Levine is highly experienced in representing victims of disability discrimination and retaliation through negotiation, litigation and trial, under the Americans with Disabilities Act and the state laws.
Both state and federal laws prohibit employers from discriminating against individuals with a disability in hiring, termination, promotion, compensation, job training, and other terms, conditions or privileges of employment. "Disability" is defined broadly, including physical or mental impairments that substantially limit one or more major life activities; a record of such an impairment; or when an employee is regarded as having such an impairment.
Employers must provide individuals with disabilities reasonable accommodations to perform their jobs and cannot retaliate against individuals who assert their rights or who oppose unlawful practices.
